.
Welcome to the Somerset Rivers Authority (SRA).  We were officially launched on January 31, 2015 as a response to the floods of winter  2013/14 which caused such misery and devastation to Somerset’s people and communities.

Establishing the SRA is a key Action of the Somerset Levels and Moors Flood Action Plan, which was developed at the Government’s request, and signed off by the Secretary of State in March 2014.

“We must establish a Somerset rivers board that has greater control and responsibility for work to maintain and improve water management...” the Plan stated.

Now the SRA’s remit includes the whole of Somerset, not just the flooded areas of the Levels and Moors.

This website is being developed into a resource for everyone who wants to find out about what is happening regarding flood risk management in Somerset.

Browse through it to find out more about the SRA’s work.

New: read a copy of the SRA's latest progress update which gives more details of some recent work across Somerset and a taste of some plans for the future. You can also download a PDF of the latest issue of the progress update (called The Stream) by clicking on this link: The Stream PDF
