Somerset Rivers Authority (SRA) Board decisions 5 December 2025

A summary of what happened at the Somerset Rivers Authority (SRA) Board meeting on 5 December 2025. Not every item on the agenda is covered. Only items that required decisions to be taken are featured below.

ITEM 3 – Minutes of the previous meeting

The minutes from the SRA Board meeting on 12 September 2025 were agreed as accurate.

ITEM 6 – Administration

As recommended, the Somerset Rivers Authority (SRA) Board approved the proposed meeting dates for the financial year 2026-27.

ITEM 8a – Quarter 2 2025-26 Finance Report

As recommended, the SRA Board noted the financial performance as at the end of Quarter 2 of 2025-26.

The Board approved the re-allocation of funds to and from contingency as per Part Two of the report.

ITEM 8b – Quarter 2 2025-26 Enhanced Programme Performance Monitoring

As recommended, the SRA Board noted the overall delivery status of the schemes and activities within the current SRA Enhanced Programme for Quarter 2 2025-26.

ITEM 9 – SRA Proposed 2026-27 Enhanced Programme and Budget

As recommended, the SRA Board provisionally approved the proposed 2026-27 SRA Enhanced Programme and Budget.

The Board approved the SRA Workstream leads developing a proposal for making use of unallocated funds for the SRA Board to consider at its meeting on 6 March 2026.

ITEM 10 River Sowy – King’s Sedgemoor Drain (KSD) Enhancements Scheme

As recommended, the SRA Board noted the substantial completion of upgrades at King’s Sedgemoor Drain (KSD) outfalls at Back Ditch and Chedzoy Tilting Weir.

The Board also noted the substantial completion of KSD bankraising works.

ITEM 11 River Brue modelling update

As recommended, the SRA Board noted progress towards completion of the River Brue modelling project.

The Board considered and commented on the summary of findings and recommendations from the modelling project and next steps.

The Board ordered the convening of a working group to include the Environment Agency, Axe Brue Internal Drainage Board and Somerset Council to work out a strategic approach to coordinate all the various inputs, opportunities, potential funding sources and next steps.

ITEM 12 Strategic risk register

As recommended, the SRA Board reviewed the strategic risk log

The Board noted the addition of an ‘opportunities’ column.
