Somerset Rivers Authority (SRA) Board decisions 3 March 2023

A summary of what happened at the Somerset Rivers Authority (SRA) Board meeting on 3 March 2023. Only items about which decisions were taken on the day are featured below. Items 11 and 9 were taken out of sequence, to allow more time for discussion about particular aspects of the day’s business.

Item 3: Minutes of the meeting on 20 January 2023

It was agreed that the minutes of the SRA Board Meeting held on 20 January 2023 should be signed as accurate.

Item 7: 2022-23 Major Flooding incident

As recommended, the SRA Board reviewed and commented on the proposal for the planning and undertaking of a ‘flood summit’.

Item 8: Quarter Three 2022-23 Finance Update

As recommended, the SRA Board noted the financial performance as at the end of Quarter Three of 2022-23.

The Board approved the re-allocation of funding to contingency as per Part Two of the report.

Item 9: 2023-24 SRA Enhanced Programme and budget

As recommended, the SRA Board approved the proposed 2023-24 SRA Enhanced Programme.

As recommended, the Board also approved the 2023-24 SRA Budget

Item 11: River Sowy-King’s Sedgemoor Drain Enhancements Scheme (Phase 1)

The SRA Board voted and agreed that it wished to complete Phase 1.

The SRA Board approved £107,000 for further design modifications for Level Rhyne Outfall and KSD [King’s Sedgemoor Drain] Back Ditch Outfall. The Board also approved £180,000 for Chedzoy Tilting Weir which is not currently funded.

The Board deferred taking a decision on recommendations 2 and 5, pending SRA partners using best endeavours and good will to reach an agreement on risk sharing by 31 March (recommendation 4), with a Board meeting if need be by 31 March.
