SRA Annual Report 2022-23: Langport flow station

At Langport, high water levels in the River Parrett delayed the completion of a new flow gauge station, jointly funded by the SRA and the Environment Agency.

Three pillars for Langport flow station, driven in to the bank of the River Parrett, with other materials and equipment piled up on the bank.

The station is due to enter service with the Environment Agency this year.

It will measure how much water is going down the Parrett from a catchment of approximately 770 square kilometres (478 square miles).

Such information is especially valuable in times of flood.

Used in combination with data from existing gauges at Chiselborough, Yeovil, Donyatt and Stathe, figures from Langport flow station will help people to make important decisions about how best to respond in difficult situations.
