SRA Annual Report 2022-23: Dulverton Weir

The Weir across the River Barle in Dulverton is in a poor state.

Following a successful application for SRA funding in March 2021, the Weir’s owner Somerset West and Taunton Council commissioned Mann Williams (Consulting Structural and Civil Engineers) to produce designs for reconstructing the Weir.

A detailed report was duly completed in November 2022.

Mann Williams estimated then that it would cost just over £1million to repair the Weir.

Ownership of the Weir has since passed to the new Somerset Council.

If the Weir can be restored – along with the Leat that loops off from the Barle through Dulverton – then Dulverton Leat Trust has agreed in principle to lease them both, and to pay for their future maintenance.
