Upcoming public events involving Somerset Rivers Authority (SRA)
November 2025
Somerset Prepared resilience roadshow
This event in Glastonbury Town Hall on Monday 10 November is about preparing for emergencies. Being ready.
It’s for residents, flood wardens, councillors: anyone who would like to learn more about flooding with expert guides, free tea and cake.
Drop in anytime between 3.30pm and 5.30 pm.
Between 4pm and 5.30pm there’s a workshop about the rights and responsibilities that come with owning a watercourse or a flood defence or drainage structure. This is a useful and enjoyable session about a subject that involves many more people than is generally appreciated.
Between 6pm and 8.30pm there’s a workshop for flood wardens. It’s intended mostly for new or experienced volunteers, but you can come along if you would just like to know more.
Somerset Prepared is a partnership that includes Somerset Rivers Authority.
Flood group network meetings
Four ‘drop-in’ events are being held for Somerset people interested in flooding and in working together to try to get more useful things done in different Somerset river catchments.
The River Parrett catchment meeting is in Langport on Wednesday 12 November, 10am – 12noon, at The Angel.
The River Tone catchment meeting is in Cotford St Luke village hall, Monday 17 November, 10am – 12noon.
The Axe-Brue catchment meeting is in Godney village hall, Thursday 20 November, 10am-12noon.
The Somerset Frome catchment meeting is in Nunney village hall, Tuesday 25 November, 10am – 12noon.
Flood workshops in West Somerset
Two events are being held on Tuesday 18 November, in Dulverton and Porlock libraries, both centred on the question: ‘Do you know what to do during a flood?’
Dulverton’s drop-in session is in the morning, 10.30am – 12 noon, Porlock’s get-together is in the afternoon, 1.30pm – 3pm.
SRA staff will be there to discuss flooding matters. You don’t have to live in Dulverton or Porlock to attend, just in Somerset.
Come along and you will also get chance to create your own little magazine, which you can take home as a sort of aide memoire to help plan for any possible flooding.
To book a free place, drop into either library or email DULLIB@somerset.gov.uk or PORLIB@somerset.gov.uk
