Somerset Rivers Authority (SRA) Board decisions 4 March 2022

A summary of what happened at the Somerset Rivers Authority (SRA) Board meeting on 4 March 2022. Not every item on the agenda is covered. Only items that required decisions to be taken are featured below.

Item 3: Minutes of the meeting on 10 December 2021

It was agreed that the minutes of the SRA Board Meeting held on 10 December 2021 should be signed as accurate.

Item 7: SRA Joint Scrutiny Panel recommendations

The Board noted the update of the recent SRA Joint Scrutiny Panel meeting.

The Board responded to the recommendation made by the Panel in relation to riparian responsibilities.

Item 8b: River Sowy-King’s Sedgemoor Drain Enhancements Scheme

As recommended, the SRA Board noted that the outstanding channel works that were originally planned for Autumn 2021 had been re-programmed, with further enabling worked planned before the bank-raising window during August to October 2022.

The Board approved additional budget (up to £200,000) to progress the ‘design and preparation’ of three additional outfalls to Phase 1, downstream of the channel works, to prevent any back flow into the moor as a result of the channel enhancements.

It was also noted that lack of skilled plant drivers and staff shortages from illness remain a risk to works delivery.

Item 9: Quarter 3 2021-22 SRA Finance Report

As recommended, the Board noted the SRA’s financial performance as at the end of Quarter Three of 2021-22.

The Board approved the re-allocation of contingency as per part two.

Item 10a: 2021-22 Enhanced Programme

The Board reviewed, commented upon and approved the proposed 2022-23 SRA Enhanced Programme.

Item 10b: To review and approve the 2021-22 SRA budget
