People in Somerset will be better able to manage their own flood risks after Environment Secretary Elizabeth Truss today (8 December, 2014) announced £1.9 million funding for Somerset Rivers Authority, enabling it to start work next year.
The vision of creating a Somerset Rivers Authority to oversee Somerset’s Flood Action Plan was today backed by Somerset County Council’s Cabinet (12 November, 2014).
Leaders of organisations working to reduce the risk and impact of flooding in Somerset have welcomed Government investment of £13 million into the county's 20 Year Flood Action Plan.
